It seems that during the Christmas period, our skin takes a huge hit. We overindulge and spend a few days (or weeks if you're like me!) enjoying our favourite food and drink...and then it gets to January, and the whole 'NEW YEAR, NEW ME' movement kicks in. This is when we realise that, not only have we not been necessarily drinking enough water, but our skin has also been lacking in the H2O department. Tropic has started 2025 with a focus on a 30 day hydration challenge - where they encourage people to not only hydrate their bodies, but their skin as well. With this in mind, let's take a look at how their brand new Hydrating Cleanser can help in refreshing our mind, body and skin for the new year.

What is it?

Tropic's new Hydrating Cleanser is classed as a revitalising facial gelée that works to cleanse, hydrate and soothe skin in one step. Fragrance-free, pH-balanced and 100% naturally-derived, it's a daily essential for even the most sensitive skin.

Powered by a bespoke complex of ceramides, multi-weight hyaluronic acid, and phospholipids, it's clinically tested and shown to instantly triple skin hydration*, while effortlessly removing impurities. Infused with calming aloe vera and vitamin-rich cucamelon, the gentle, lightweight blend protects skin’s natural moisture barrier, so there’s no post-cleanse tightness.

What are the main ingredients?

Multi-Weight Hyaluronic Acid
This powerful humectant delivers deep, long-lasting hydration by attracting and retaining moisture across both the surface and deeper layers of your skin. The result? A plumped, dewy and refreshed complexion.
Organic Aloe Vera Juice
A renowned soother, aloe vera calms irritation, replenishes hydration, and supports the skin's natural barrier, leaving it soft, refreshed, and balanced.
Cucamelon
Known as the ‘mini watermelon’, this tiny fruit is rich in antioxidants and bursting with hydration-boosting benefits. It helps to soothe, cool and brighten skin, while defending against free radicals.

How should I use it?

Use as a revitalising first cleanse in the morning, or as a second cleanse at night after makeup removal. Massage half a pump all over wet skin to create a soft, comforting lather. Rinse off and finish with a few splashes of cold water to lock in hydration.

As this is more of a face wash, I personally would not recommend using this as a make up remover. You can team this up with Tropic's Smoothing Cleanser (click here for more information) or you can simply use it on its own morning and/or night. And as usual when it comes to Tropic...a little goes a long way! I would recommend 1-1.5 pumps for each use, otherwise you will be spending hours washing it off your face! It lathers up very quickly, but doesn't leave any sticky residue on the skin. It also doesn't contain any exfoliating ingredients, so it is incredibly gentle even on the most sensitive of skin.

Does it really hydrate that quickly?

I was unsure whether to believe in the independent clinical study results. I mean, triple the hydration after just one use does seem a little too good to be true. But boy, I'm really eating a slice of humble pie right now! As soon as I put the cleanser on and massaged it into my skin, I could tell it was doing the job straight away. My skin felt like the softest silk, and it smelt absolutely amazing. I've always enjoyed fresh scents in the products I use, but the addition of cucamelon took this at-home spa experience to another level. The cooling sensation from the jelly texture was so refreshing, and since I absolutely love using cold water on my face in the morning, this really added to my 'WAKE UP' morning routine.

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely. Will it be a game changer in your skincare routine? Undoubtedly. Will you start seeing results right away? YES!
